El Calafate-Puerto Natales
From El Calafate to El Cerrito to Tapi Aike to Villa Cerro Castillo to Puerto Natales.
Some of our most windy days. Flat pampas and strong headwind made Marco go nuts sometimes and a few times I saw him give the finger to the sky and I also heard long angry phrases in italian.
On our way from El Calafate, we found our lovely friends Ana&Andre again and we went together towards El Cerrito where one man lives and gives bikers shelter in his garage. After El Cerrito we took a shortcut on a gravel road to get to Tapi Aike but it was a hard day with a lot of headwind and no shelter. The only way to find some shelter from the wind when we had a break was to lie down on the ground behind the bikes. It took us a whole day to do 66km; at least we saw some flamingos on the way.
In Tapi Aike live three people, a policeman, a person who has a gasstation and Walter. Walter fix the roads and lets bikers stay in his garden and let them take a warm shower in his bathroom, we love Walter!!!
After Tapi Aike we went to cross the border and enter Chile again. No fresh fruit are allowed into the country so Marco ate his onion rather then give it to the policemen. We got some warmth in a cafe an then one hour later on the way to Puerto Natales the sun and flowers welcomed us on the Chile side. We wildcamped about 10km before Puerto Natales, next to the road.

He eats raw onions as a form of civil opposition... and it is supposed to be good news, uh?!?! At least his breath cannot bother a lot of people in the overcrowded Pampa! kisses, crazy bikers, Paolo.
