Pt. Yungay to Villa O Higgins

On the way from Pt. yungay to villa O'Higgins.

Pt. Yungay-Pt. Rio Bravo-Villa O Higgins

Boat from Pt. Yungay to Pt Rio Bravo. The first part of the stretch to Villa O'Higgins proved to be very steep and rainy; our names digged in the gravel by Ana&Andre showed us the way to a hidden shelter were we spent the night. Last 55 km to Villa O'Higgins, the last "city" of the Carretera Austral.

Caleta Tortel-Puerto Yungay

Caleta Tortel to Puerto Yungay. A short but steep day in wind and cold end with 5 empanadas each at Ines' (picture) cafeteria and a good night sleep in her extra cabaña. Ines is the only inhabitant of Puerto Yungay, now that her husband is away. This if you do not count Mickey the few week old cat Adrian is holding.

Los Ñadis-Caleta Tortel

Leaving Los Ñadis (actually cheating with a ride back to the Carretera) and very rainy day to Caleta Tortel a strange, isolated harbour, all built on wooden docks.

Cochrane-Los Ñadis

On the way from Cochrane to Los Ñadis. Get a taste of the gravel road-shakings in these stretches!

Cochrane-Los Ñadis

From Cochrane to Los Ñadis. One of the best rides and Los Ñadis, a remote refugio in a side valley, proved to be the perfect spot for a rest day, also thanks to the family living there and keeping such a nice and well organized camping. And... ¡Patagonia free of dams!
